image for UK politician calls for death penalty for suicide bombers

BRITISH independent politician Janice Atkinson has demanded the United Kingdom reintroduce the death penalty — for suicide bombers.

“But there is one simple step which we can take now: we must bring back the death penalty.”.

Ms Atkinson once stood for right-wing populist party UKIP, which was one of the key advocates for Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union.

“I’m not wringing my hands trying to find answers, I’m a politician, it’s my job to come up with answers.”.

Senate Bill 1913, by state Sen. Judith Zaffirini, D-Laredo, would allow courts to ask defendants if they are too poor to pay for traffic tickets; fines for other low-level and fine-only offenses; or court costs.

After making that determination, courts would be allowed to reduce or waive fines and costs and offer community service as an alternative.

In fewer than 1 percent of cases, they waived fines or reduced payments owed because the defendant couldn't afford to pay, according to the study. »
