About 9 military style trucks have rolled through the White House complex and onto Pennsylvania Ave on Monday.

They\'re all filled with National Guard troops.

(CNN) -- An active duty military police battalion consisting of some 200 to 250 military personnel is now in the process of deploying to Washington, DC, and could be in the nation's capital as soon as tonight, three US defense officials tell CNN.

The troops are expected to provide security but not perform law enforcement duties such as the arrest and detention of protesters, according to the officials.

Two defense officials said the troops will be coming from a unit at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina.

In a statement posted on the Bad Robot Instagram page on Monday, they announced a pledge of $10 million over five years to various organizations.

For starters, they will donate $200,000 each to the following groups: Black Lives Matter LA, Black Futures Lab, Community Coalition, Equal Justice Initiative, and Know Your Rights Camp. »

(Reuters) - Seven students at a Camden, New Jersey, school forced to eat lunch on a gymnasium floor for two weeks as punishment won a $500,000 legal settlement, their attorney said on Tuesday.

The 2008 incident involved fifth-grade students at the Charles Sumner Elementary School who were disciplined after one child spilled water as he tried to lift a jug onto a cooler, said the lawyer, Alan Schorr.

The students filed a federal lawsuit against the Camden Board of Education, which agreed to the settlement, the attorney said. »
