(CNN) — Just when you thought you'd heard everything.

A 17-year-old high school senior who was attending a prom for home-schoolers this weekend near Richmond, Virginia, got kicked out, she says, because she was told her dress was too short.

Some of the dads who were chaperoning the prom had complained that her dancing "was too provocative" and that she was going to "cause the young men at the prom to think impure thoughts."

Really? That isn't much of a stretch from "she asked for it" when we blame victims of sexual assault for what they were wearing. Are the thoughts and actions of young men and their fathers really her responsibility?

The slideshow of teens who had been barred from their proms felt a little one-of-these-things-is-not-like-the-others to me...amidst the slut-shaming and heterosexism/gender policing was one girl who was told she couldn't wear a confederate flag themed dress to prom and I'm.kinda...okay with that? There's a false equivalency going on between, like, a kilt as acceptable formal wear, or gender-neutral dress codes, and wearing a thing that is designed to evoke and recreate a symbol of racist violence and systemic oppression, right?

Girls en masse should start complaining that standard pieces of men's clothing causes us impure thoughts.

Basketball shorts? Impure thoughts. Fitted polos? Way too sexy. Tight suit pants? I don't know how I'm gonna keep my hands off dat ass.
