On the afternoon of February 19, 2024, famed Sega leaker Midori took to Twitter to reveal details about Sega’s upcoming reboots of the Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio IPs. These reboots are part of what is referred to in the thread as the current Sega Super Game plan.

In a thread created in response to a recent article by Eurogamer about how the upcoming Crazy Taxi reboot would be AAA in scope, Midori revealed that the upcoming title would be a live-service game.

According to Midori, the upcoming reboots of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio will be taking inspiration from titles such as Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto Online, with their successes being the main inspiration for the current Sega Super Game initiative.

She would detail later in the thread that the upcoming Jet Set Radio reboot would both have graffiti gameplay as well as gunplay similar to Fortnite. Taking advantage of its multiple playable characters and open world for both styles of gameplay.

In a response to if the upcoming Jet Set Radio game would have a single-player mode, Midori would simply respond with a “There is a completely brand new story”.

Many gamers’ fears would also be confirmed as Midori would respond to questions about if the game had microtransactions with but a single word: “Yes”. What form these microtransactions will take has yet to be seen.

Midori also elaborated that both Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi would be receiving remakes of their first games alongside these reboots. These remakes will not feature live service elements of any kind but will be released for full price.

There are currently no set release dates for either these remakes or the live service reboots. However, according to Midori, gamers can expect to play the remakes in 2026!
