Konami and Bloober Team’s upcoming survival horror game, Silent Hill 2, is in the final stage of development, based on the latest information.

Speaking during an interview with Famitsu, Motoi Okamoto, producer of of Silent Hill 2, revealed that the game is currently in its final stage of development. He added that there is little else he can share in this regard. In hi current role at Konami, he aims to revive the entire Silent Hill series.

According to Okaomoto, Silent Hill 2 is the same as everyone imagines, and it is easy to play even in modern times, except that now it can be enjoyed with beautiful visuals that live up to nostalgic memories of the original. He urged fans to try out Silent Hill: The Short Message, and wait for further updates from the development team. The latter is available to download on PS5.

Regarding the creation of Silent Hill: The Short Message, Okamoto stated that the production team at Konami wondered what would happen if it created a short story set in the Silent Hill setting. He mentioned that the development team at Hexadrive experimented with incorporating live-action footage into the game, wondering what it would look like and how it would be used. They wanted to give Maya a special sense of realism, since the player is constantly searching for Maya. At the same time, he also expressed the sense of distance between the protagonist and Maya, and the feeling of not being able to enter her world. In the live-action scenes, the game presented various challenges, such as mixing and expressing 3D CGI and textures. However, there were some scenes that mandated the use of live-action footage, such as the walls having a lot of sticky notes, which would have been a challenge to achieve using in-game assets.
