We all like to toot our own horn once in a while but sometimes we go a bit overboard, this may be one of those cases, during a Q&A session as part of a conference call discussing Ubisoft’s Q3 sales, one caller pointed out that Skull and Bones is looking more and more like a live service game and the caller also asked why Ubisoft was insisting on charging $70 for the game?

Well, the answer was not what we expected, CEO Yves Guillemot said:

“You will see that Skull and Bones is a fully-fledged game, It’s a very big game, and we feel that people will see how vast and complete that game is. It’s a full, triple… quadruple-A game, that will deliver in the long run.”

Skull and Bones development has had some serious delays, it was revealed at E3 2017 with a 2018 release window, it would miss that window and many others, all these delays just could be one of the reasons it is $70?

An open beta for Skull and Bones has started and will run until February 11. The beta supports cross-progression and cross-play. So you will be able to see if it truly is a AAAA game for yourself. The “full” game is set to launch on 16 February 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
