The most recent entry in the Dino Crisis series, Dino Crisis 3, is an action-adventure game developed by Capcom Production Studio 4 and published by Capcom for the Xbox. Similar to its predecessors, the game involves battling dinosaurs and reptiles, which are actually mutations derived from dinosaur DNA. Unlike real dinosaurs, these enemies are encountered on a space station setting. Originally intended for release on both Xbox and PlayStation 2, development of the PlayStation 2 version was halted early on.

Players have access to two guns equipped with six different types of ammunition (one gun and three ammo types per playable character), along with “WASPS” devices designed to assist in dinosaur encounters. Gameplay predominantly centers around the character Patrick, with only a brief segment featuring Sonya. Additionally, three types of body armor are available. Set in the year 2548, the storyline revolves around Earth’s loss of contact with the colony ship Ozymandias, which reappears near Jupiter after 300 years. A team named S.O.A.R. (Special Operations And Reconnaissance) is dispatched to investigate aboard the probe ship Seyfert. However, upon deploying a shuttle to explore the Ozymandias, the ship’s weapons unexpectedly activate, resulting in the destruction of the Seyfert and the shuttle.
