Despite how much one may support Ukraine, don't ever forget that war is a ridiculous nightmare and no reasonable person wants to fight in one. People in war-torn countries try to leave because they don't want to ruin or lose their lives. It's not hard to figure out.

According to the ukrainians i know, and have insight into the current Ukrainian diaspora in europe, most of them left in the first few days before the law came into effect. So strictly speaking they haven't even violated any law.
Since conscription started it's gotten insanely difficult to get out. But those first few days there was literally nothing stopping anyone.
