My mom’s cousins got a monkey from an ad like this. From the stories I’ve heard letting two teenagers own a monkey went as well as you’d expect and ended very sadly.
Edit: for those asking for elaboration, the main stories I can recall hearing about involved a lot of poop being thrown/smeared, the monkey getting loose while alone and wrecking the kitchen including smearing chocolate covered cherries all over. The youngest cousin got bit bad enough their dad “took it away”. So either dumped it in the country somewhere or killed it; a terrible end to a short, poor existence regardless whichever it ended up being.
