from what i read, they wouldn't have had to shut it down if people didn't keep littering and fucking the place up. people were taking shits there because of the long line ups, dumping their trash, diapers, plastic bottles. not to mention they would routinely trespass on the owner's property too. people parked all over the place wrecking the lawn and bushes and shit. calling them leaf peepers is an understatement. they were menaces trying to get clout by being unoriginal with their photography.
if i sound mad, it's cause i am. people are doing the same thing to a bunch of famous spots in banff. moraine lake is a nightmare to visit now, most of the hiking trails are getting bad with people tossing plastic bottles and trash everywhere.
