Their bites are sometimes called tunnel wounds because the surface looks fine but it could be eating tubes through your meat underneath. I know you said you got it checked out but I hope they did a really good job or you could legitimately lose everything below your elbow. Seriously. All the best.

So I read a book by a legitimate mad scientist who was bit by a brown recluse. Went to a doctor and they prescribed antibiotics. He was unimpressed and hypothesized that the bacteria were anaerobic and ran pure oxygen over the wounds for a few days and it healed rapidly. This guy also talked to owls because they were aliens, so I was always curious the validity of his method.

Edit: For those interested, the book is Dancing Naked in the Mind Field by Kary Mullis. His childhood stories of chemical synthesis are hilarious and high concerning, and the molecular biology stuff later in his life is just cool.
