Died in 2015. Her experience ruined her marriage, she lost her kids, and became addicted to alcohol and drugs. Never got 'first responder' treatment because she was just a regular person caught up in the dust cloud trying to run away. Like so many. When she died she was 190,000$ indebt and couldn't afford her meds. Medical Insurance is a scam in the US.
If anyone here was in a similar situation or have family who were, two of my family members work to connect 9/11 victims to the Victim Compensation Fund to help cover medical expenses like this:
Please look into this. There is no reason you should have to go into medical debt if you were at or close to ground 0 during 9/11 or during the months after.
Of course I believe there's no reason anyone should ever go into medical debt, but at least in this case there's a way to avoid it.
