This is one of the most insanely deadly fires in modern history for the U.S. isn't it?
What caused it and how close to the city was it that they had no real time to evacuate?
The speed and suprise of it seems insane compared to most wildfires.
We've had some fast moving deadly fires here in Arizona but not with a death toll like this.

According to a different source it’s 1195 people currently missing and unaccounted for as of a couple hours ago.
That’s 1195 people who have not contacted relatives, not been found in any shelters, and obviously haven’t been confirmed dead.
