The Marion County Sheriff's Office said Susan Lorincz, 58, was charged with manslaughter with a firearm and other offenses.

On Friday night, the office said, Lorincz got into an argument with the children and "was overhead yelling at them by a neighbor.".

During the argument, the office continued, Lorincz threw a roller skate at Owens' 10-year-old son and hit him in a toe.

Lorincz then fired one shot through the door, striking Owens in her upper chest.

When questioned by the sheriff's office, Lorincz claimed she acted in self-defense and that Owens was trying to break down her door.

The most well-known examples of the stand your ground argument came up in the trial of George Zimmerman, who fatally shot Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman, who had a White father and Hispanic mother, told police that Martin attacked him, forcing him to use his gun in self-defense. »

Gavin Newsom suggests kidnap charges over Ron DeSantis’s migrant flights

California Governor Gavin Newsom suggested he may be considering kidnapping charges against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after the 2024 GOP primary candidate flew a group of migrants from Texas to Sacramento on allegedly false pretences.

Mr Newsom called Mr DeSantis a "small, pathetic man" in a tweet on Monday, and then provided a snippet of the state's laws regarding kidnapping.

The migrants are being served by a local faith-based group in Sacramento and will be processed by US immigration services, according to Deadline. »

A 60-year-old American inputted the wrong GPS coordinates and ended up at the Canadian border.

Police said an inspection uncovered 400 pounds of cannabis and more than $600,000 cash in his car.

Canadian border officials said that they found 181 kilograms, or about 399 pounds, of cannabis during the inspection that was valued from $269,775 to $539,552. »
