After Twitter made the code for its algorithm open source at noon Pacific Time on March 31, users began to pick through it, and discovered that tweets judged to be about Ukraine were down-ranked – meaning users were less likely to see them in their feed.

Anecdotally, Twitter users who post frequently on Ukraine topics had noticed less engagement with their accounts since Musk took over the platform in October last year.

Musk had not commented on the down-ranking of posts about Ukraine by the Twitter algorithm as of the time of publication.

India is celebrating five decades of tiger conservation as it marked the 50th anniversary of “Project Tiger” on Saturday.

India first launched Project Tiger under then-prime minister Indira Gandhi on 1 April 1973, in a bit to promote conservation.

In an interview with the Times of India to mark the anniversary, environment minister Bhupender Yadav said: “Project Tiger has been successful in bringing tigers back from the brink of extinction.”. »
