Okay, solid truth in about 2020 I had these pop up in a half buried stump, in the middle of my back lawn. Not as perfect as this but it was quite shocking. Looks just like fingers and are fairly woody. Had never encountered before and googled " stump fungus dead fingers". Boom, came right up.

I gotta say You know them when you see them. Not hard to identify.
