Trump "gleefully" watched the Capitol insurrection, an ex-White House official said last month.

But he was confused when staffers who also watched were not as excited, the AP reported.

The report comes after Ivanka Trump was asked to cooperate with the January 6 committee.

Former President Donald Trump was confused when White House staffers didn't like him rewinding Capitol riot highlights on TV, The Associated Press reported Monday.

The report offers new details into what happened in the West Wing on January 6, 2021, as a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in an attempt to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election.

The AP report repeats a previous claim made by Stephanie Grisham, a former White House press secretary, who told CNN last month that Trump "gleefully" watched the insurrection unfold on TV, rewinding the footage at several points to watch it over again.

"Look at all of the people fighting for me," Trump said at the time, according to Grisham.

As White House staffers watched the riot unfold, the former president was shocked that they weren't as excited as he was, the AP said.

The report also provided an update on Trump's daughter and then-senior advisor Ivanka Trump, who was asked by the January 6 select committee last month to cooperate with its investigation into the Capitol riot.

A committee aide told the AP that they are hopeful Ivanka, who has kept a very low public profile since her father left office, will soon commit to a time to meet.

"Ivanka Trump has details about what occurred in the lead-up to and on Jan. 6 and about the former president's state of mind as events unfolded," Rep. Stephanie Murphy, a member of the panel, told the AP.

In Trump's world, those folks were not attacking the Capital of the US. They were not attacking Capital police. They were not writing perhaps the worst chapter in our election history. They were fighting for Trump. Everything is seen through the lens of Trump. Not the lens of Democracy. Not the lens of History. Not even the lens of the United States of America. Just through the lens of Trump. We should never allow this to happen again. Trump should be tried in the courts, stripped of his citizenship, and deported.

It is impossible for me to try and put myself in the mind of a Magahead. Trump represents everything I was raised not to be. I’m not even talking about bigotry and misogyny here. I mean basic shit like honesty, respect, compassion, and humility. Sure, no one’s perfect, but he’s a scumbag on every level. Is that really the example we want to set for kids?
