This is Clementine, the mother of the young fishmonger from Marseilles.

She also has the habit of making little skin noodles.
At the end of the day, sweaty and covered in dust from housework, she rubs her right thumb against her left palm, making the noodle rolls.
The day they mentioned her husband, she remembered what she said to her future mother-in-law just after the end of the war: "this guy who came back from Normandy is not my fiancé Gerome".
To which the lady retorted: "with so many losses, any return is welcomed, whatever it may be".
She, who had lost her father and a brother, was petrified and never touched the subject again.
And she continued making noodles, on her neck, on her chest, on her belly, and who knows where else.
