This is the single most terrifying and exhilarating thing I ever did. And then I did it 3 more times. Twice in the East Atlantic, Once in the most possible center of the Atlantic and again in the Caribbean.

Swim calls are awesome, but it’s unnerving looking down in the water and seeing absolute endless dark blue, and knowing you are probably being watched.

All my fears in one picture! Big ships and open water.

For those wondering, the middle of the ocean is actually pretty dead. Animals (e.g., sharks) are concentrated around the coasts where most of the nutrients are (and those nutrients feed the bottom of the food web, and then they feed the next level up the food web, etc.). It has the biodiversity of the Sahara out there, http://www.giscourse.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/BiodiveristyMap.jpg
