Imagine being in the UK and not getting charged... at all

Living in America. Once I went in and ended up needed to have a portion of my toenail removed to send in for a test. The portion removed was just a normal toenail clipping, that I did myself there in the clinic. Clip done, by myself.

I was charged for a surgery $225, that I did myself. Charged my insurance which was terrible and only had about $3k coverage, so this and the following actual test (which was cheaper than the "surgery" but I don't remember now.)

225$ so called surgery to clip my own toenail. 🥲

American living in Canada here. Had a baby, free. Free mammograms, pap tests, colonoscopies, doctor visits ... whatever is needed. Broke my wrist in January, had surgery to repair and have had multiple return visits to check on the progress. I did have to pay $50 for a lighter cast (plaster would have been free). It's hell, folks.
