This is a happy spin on a sad situation. Once Godzilla was tricked into becoming a citizen, they were forced to take a job at the only place hiring, just so they could pay the taxes which were required of the official citizen. Godzilla worked behind the desk at a welcome center and dealt with snobby tourists like kids taking unwelcome selfies with the “monster” and “gross dino”. Godzilla also faced mockery from its coworkers, who laughed at Godzilla’s slow typing speed, lack of knowledge of Japan’s lakes, and rigid exterior. And Godzilla didn’t get to tear shit down and blow fire on shit much anymore so they didn’t like that.

Looks smaller in real life. Wonder if he's wearing elevator shoes in the movies?
