Muscular dystrophy is an umbrella term for many more specific conditions, the worst of which would definitely lead to shortened lives. However, a lot of progress has been made in recent years with modern science and people are living fuller lives. Resources being directed towards MD have been making a real difference.

My brother in law has cerebral palsy and was given a life expectancy of six years old. He recently celebrated his 38th birthday.
