Absolute insanity that the minimum wage has been as bad as it has been for this long. Time for a bump, even if it’s a slow bump over years, it’s better than the current alternative.
I used to think increasing the minimum wage was stupid. Hell I worked for $4.25 at McDonalds in '96. I job hopped and within 3 years I was making $11. But I was looking at it as $7.25 per hour for some non skilled job like sweeping floors, mopping, emptying trashcans. Rather than looking at it as "You are asking a human to give up hours of their life, so that your company can make money". What is the value of 1 hour of my life? Something that I will never be able to get back.
