To be fair, I think like only 24 people were convicted then. The main defense of most was "I didn't know" and "I was only doing my job".

Yeah and it doesn’t stop just at the trials. Just look at how Japan teaches its history compared to Germany.

There's a couple examples that fit better. In 1876 William Belknap was impeached after resigning. "The Senate convened its trial in early April, with Belknap present, after agreeing that it retained impeachment jurisdiction over former government officials." There's already precedent that government officials may be impeached after leaving office.

In 1862 federal judge West Humphreys was impeached. Humphreys left the bench to serve as a judge for the Confederacy without resigning. Not only did the Senate vote to convict, but they also unanimously voted to disqualify him from holding office ever again.

In our own history we have multiple examples of a federal official being impeached after leaving office. Why compare Trump to Nazis when you can compare him to other pieces of shit from our own country's past?
