I was a judge for Komoney yu-gi-oh tournaments from 2010-2016 for regional/ycs levels.
Every regional around the Twin Cities we had this kid, probably 13 years old, that would compete with some interesting off-meta decks and place top ten players consistently.
His dad would come with confetti and kazoos for when his child would get their national invite.
I don't have much of a good father figure to emulate when I become a father but that man will always be in the back of my head when my kid is proud and excited for downright stupid shit.
