Here's some more details. He fell on take-off, when the undercarriage doors opened so the wheels could retract while the plane was about 200 ft in the air.

He sort of died the moment he got in there, though. The plane was bound for Tokyo, and the DC-8 has a cruising altitude of 30000 to 40000 ft. If it wasn't that fall, he'd have frozen to death or died of asphyxiation. Assuming he wasn't crushed by the wheels.

This once happened not far from where I live. Someone was discovered dead in the front yard of a nice neighborhood. Can you imagine waking up to a thud, going outside to find a frozen dead guy on your lawn!? I suppose it’s better than crashing through your roof but...
