Jackass stars Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville have been hospitalised two days into filming Jackass 4.

20 years after the series first launched, the crew has reunited to start production on the fourth film – and two of its stars ended up in hospital two days into the shoot.

Bam Margera, also a Jackass member, posted a video on his website revealing that filming had paused after two days following Knoxville and Steve-o’s injuries.

The video explains that the pair were trying to jump onto a moving treadmill while carrying musical instruments.

“Second day of filming Jackass and already Steve-O and Knoxville are hospitalised by jumping on a full-speed treadmill with band equipment,” Margera says in the video, speaking from a hospital waiting room.

News of a fourth Jackass film was confirmed at the end of 2019, revealing the release date was set for March 5, 2021.

Back in 2016, NME interviewed Jackass star Steve-O where he talked about his hopes of a reunion for the franchise.

“I think the odds of a fourth Jackass film are virtually non-existent,” he said at the time. “The chances of us getting together for an unrelated project are much higher and I know that myself and Johnny Knoxville are both working on separate films that will allow for us to do all the stunts and antics that we’re known for built into a script.

“Both movies have a Jackie Chan approach, which is a story loaded with all kinds of physical stunts. We’re in a race as to who can get our movie out first.”

Remember the end of the first jackass movie where they're all in old man makeup and they all die doing stunts.

Yeah.

I'm really curious to see the overall condition of the cast, 10 years post-Jackass 3.

We all know Knoxville (49) is a moderate star and has enjoyed the most consistent level of success among the cast.

Steve-O (46) has been doing pretty damned well after getting sober before the production of Jackass 3 and then getting engaged in 2014.

Bam Margera (41) experienced a pretty sad and unfortunately well-documented downward spiral that began with the death of Ryan Dunn, but seems to be on the up-and-up.

Brandon Novak (41, primarily part of Bam's crew) COMPLETELY turned his life around by getting sober and is now an author, motivational speaker and life coach/treatment counselor. If there was one person I'd have expected to read about in the obituaries, it would've been Novak. I'm honestly proud of the dude's turnaround.

Wee Man (47) owns a chain of taco shops, I think?

Chris Pontius (46) seems to have settled down by developing a relationship and becoming a father.

Dave England (50), Preston Lacy (51) and Ehren McGhehey (44) seem to have faded somewhat into obscurity.

Edit to clarify that Steve-O and Pontius are not married, but in committed relationships and to include some CKY Honorable mentions:

Brandon DiCamillo (44) got married and now has a family. He seems to be active in the (vintage) video game community and now has a podcast. He can still kick you higher than you can kick him - he can still kick you way up into a tree.

Rake Yohn (45) is still speaking gibberish and may be a chemist?

Chris Raab (40) is most definitely not Matt Damon's cousin and is still trying to find some Slouzeberry Stouvre for Key Key and occasionally shits himself while running at full speed.

Next stunt: walking around until one falls and breaks their hip
