No idea why this still needs to be said, but even IF someone is doing something illegal, the police still don't have a right to kill you. That's not due process. We need to rethink how we arm and train our police.

I was once detained by police because I matched the description, I'm told, of someone they'd had a report about.

"oh," I ask, "what did they do?" "They were acting suspiciously" "great, detained because I look like someone that hasn't done anything either"

It's amazing how the "if you don't do illegal things you have nothing to worry about" excuse is always immediately struck down and invalidated when it is applied to police themselves.

People: "Police should have more accountability, and there should be a way to get the really bad apples out of there"

Police, Police Unions, etc.: "That's ridiculous. We need to 100% support all cops, no matter what! We certainly don't need any reforms or accountability!"

People: "But if the cops aren't doing illegal stuff, they have nothing to worry about, right?"

Police, Police Unions, etc.: [Changes the subject]
