My 9 year old played Bugsnax, with her three younger siblings watching and they all absolutely loved it.
The collective beat the game in approximately a week. I would hear them talking "That one doesn't like ketchup! So you need to use ketchup to scare it away!" as they tried to solve the method for how to catch each Bugsnack. They liked the story and near the end they were all excited telling me about what happened in the story and the revelation they had made.
It isn't the prettiest game but my kids sure had fun playing it.
