You know what I never understood, why were there elves in the beginning of the movie? Maybe it's just me putting too much thought into this but Scott wasn't Santa yet but there were Elves near him already.

The Denny's after the waitress takes their order you can see an elf grab his coat off the hook and exit without an adult.
