And what they're missing is the massive amount of money the employer is chipping in too.

And other taxes that support medical care.

20%? That is pretty good. My husband did a temp job last year where it was literally one third. With a gigantic copay and deductible. It made me physically sick when I realized just how expensive it was going to be. I tried to go to the federal marketplace to see if it was less expensive. It wasn’t. Not that we were eligible anyway, since he had the option to buy it through his job. A thousand dollars a month to get insurance that was worse than useless.

Third of the check went to taxes, another third went to healthcare, and we are supposed to survive on the remainder? It wasn’t enough to pay our mortgage. My husband is an engineer. And we were in poverty, on food stamps, in danger of losing our house. Because his company closed and he had to find a temp job.

This system is so ridiculously messed up.

It boggles my mind that people would actually be against universal health care. I simply don't understand it.
