Your HOA doesn’t have rules about how many flags you can fly? Wooooowiee. Real freedom.

Is flying a flag required?

[EDIT: THIS IS A RHETORICAL QUESTION NOT A LITERAL QUESTION]

For over forty years now I’ve been a patriotic American, voted in elections, paid my taxes, cheered when the US won something at the Olympics, and not waged war or given aid or comfort to our enemies, and not a single time have I seen anything that predicates my patriotism on displaying a flag.

For the critics, is that the only way they can demonstrate some kind of support for their own country?

Part of the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness that I cherish about living here is precisely that I don’t have to fly a flag in fear of repression. That is freedom.

If a neighbor of mine tries to give me an earful about the absence of anything in my yard, it’s going to turn sour.

I hope President flags don’t become the norm after Trump. I think flying flags for the president feels like you are joining a cult and it honestly feels like the equivalent of the golden calf (not that I am religious).
