Country star Morgan Wallen was scheduled to be Saturday Night Live’s musical guest this weekend (October 10), but he says he’s been uninvited from the show due to COVID-19 protocols, Variety reports. The singer was widely criticized yesterday when video surfaced of him appearing to party with no mask and kiss people in a crowd.

“My actions from this past weekend were pretty short-sighted, and have obviously affected my long-term goals and my dreams,” he said in the below Instagram video, which he filmed in a New York City hotel room. “I respect the show’s decision because I know I put them in jeopardy, and I take ownership for this. I’d like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I let them down. And on a more personal note, I think I have some growing up to do.”

Wallen added that Lorne Michaels assured him he’d be invited at a future date and noted that he was stepping away from the public eye for a while. It’s currently unknown who will perform as musical guest on this weekend’s episode, which will be hosted by Bill Burr.

Rather than getting a replacement act, it might just be a good opportunity to replay the old tape of Eddie Van Halen playing SNL.

That is how you apologize.

Just admit fault and work to correct behavior.

To be fair, at least he owned up to his mistake and didn't blame others or go on an unhinged rant, which is more than I can say for 99% of the anti mask crowd...
