Billionaire Michael Bloomberg Michael BloombergTop Democratic super PAC launches Florida ad blitz after Bloomberg donation The Hill's 12:30 Report - Presented by Facebook - Latest with the COVID-19 relief bill negotiations The Memo: 2020 is all about winning Florida MORE has reportedly raised more than $16 million in an effort to help convicted felons in Florida register to vote.

The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition estimated Bloomberg's fundraising push has already paid off monetary obligations for 32,000 felons, Axios reported.

"The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy and no American should be denied that right," a Bloomberg spokesperson told the news outlet. "Working together with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, we are determined to end disenfranchisement and the discrimination that has always driven it."

Florida passed a law in 2018 reinstating voting rights for felons that dictated they could register only if they pay all fines, fees and restitution — sometimes totaling more than $1,000 — owed to the government.

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which covers Florida, last week ruled to uphold the law.

We amended our constitution to return felons rights to vote and the fuckers in Tallahassee passed a law to try and circumvent an amendment that passed with over 70% support. I loathe Bloomberg but this is 100% fine by me.

You commit a nonviolent felony, serve your debt to society and pay the price and serve your time and yet you cannot vote - - YET you are still supposed to keep paying taxes?

Meanwhile, we have white collar criminals, bankers, executives that purposely tank the economy and destroy millions of lives in the ensuing economic Fallout but slick by with no jail time or a posh prison if at that. But if you're a petty thief who commits larceny you goto the fucking slammer.

I feel like this shouldn’t be a story. I am a convicted felon who payed my price did my time and I can now vote. There should be no fine after that to move on. I dislike Bloomberg big time but if you have payed your time then you should be able to vote. Just my 2 cents. Also depending on who they are he could be paying for a large margin of people to vote Trump
