At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire Home Alone series was based on true stories.
That's why parents buy cell phones for their kids. It's not for an emergency scenario where the kid is getting kidnapped and thrown into a van. It's for when dad's mind went totally blank and he was watching The Umbrella Academy when he got a mysterious text message that said, "Dad where the hell are you?"
