I live in Shanghai, at a pub quiz in early December, there was a current news question asking in which Chinese city has a pneumonia of unknown origin been reported.

We got it right as Wuhan, because we'd all heard the very small news story about it.

At the time, it was a bigger story of the bubonic plague being in Beijing after transferring patients from Inner Mongolia. That was definitely more of a concern!
