With Tenet on its way as the first major blockbuster following the shutdown of cinemas across the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve known for a while that Warner Bros. was due to use its upcoming re-release of Christopher Nolan’s Inception as a marketing opportunity for the director’s latest. And now, we finally know which other films are set to join an exclusive extended peek at Nolan’s latest as an “an exclusive sneak peek of select films on Warner Bros.’ upcoming slate”.

Along with an extended look at Tenet said to be initially intended for the cancelled CinemaCon 2020 convention in Las Vegas just a few months ago, the first trailer for Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune, and a new look at Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 are planned to screen as part of the re-release. This info comes from Palads Teatret in Denmark and the chain Cinema City in Portugal, where the re-release is currently due to screen from August 12 along with other countries, ahead of a U.S. bow on August 21.

Online release plans for both trailers are yet to be announced – however the latter is likely to make its official public debut during the DC FanDome event on August 22, and both are also surely screening with Tenet when it begins its international rollout the following week.

Update (30/07): Palads Teatret has this morning removed mentions of Dune and WW84 on their listings, with the Tenet-related bonus footage (CinemaCon sizzle, Nolan intro and Inception making-of featurette) and ‘new trailers’ still being advertised as part of the re-release in Denmark by other cinemas.

És fã do filme #Inception?

It is worth noting that other cinemas in Denmark are yet to corroborate this – with multiple Danish listings for the re-release mentioning the extended Tenet clip and the Christopher Nolan intro plus ‘an exclusive trailershow’. This also marks Denmark and Portugal as the third and fourth territories (following the U.S./Canada and Germany) seemingly confirmed to feature the footage from upcoming Warner Bros. films – others so far have indicated that they will screen just the Tenet bonus clips (the CinemaCon trailer and Nolan introduction, with an additional Inception making-of featurette). However, given the mention of that specific footage already confirmed and rated for other territories, it looks like getting new peeks at Warner Bros. remaining two blockbusters of the year is indeed the plan at this point.

With the multiple delays since the initial plan for the Inception re-release was announced for Tenet‘s original July 17 release date, it is possible that these plans may change by the time the screenings happen – we will be sure to update this as more info comes in. And if you are planning to attend the re release, especially specifically for the trailers, please be mindful of the situation with COVID-19 in your local area – please keep yourselves and others safe.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently set for theatrical release on October 2 in the U.S. and the UK, with Dune on December 18.
