Portland mayor tear-gassed by federal officers, warns 'somebody's going to die' during chaotic protests.

In court files, federal officials say protesters had inflicted more than $50,000 in damage to federal buildings in Portland, including tearing down security cameras and shattering glass doors.

Federal officials have repeatedly referred to Portland residents as anarchists, with federal agents firing tear gas at the crowds of mostly peaceful protesters. »

From the outside, it's just a slate gray, Cold War–era missile silo, but the inside is a different story.

Built in 1961, this Topeka-area silo was a part of the Air Force's missile defense system until it was decommissioned in 1965.

Today, what's left of the silo is used as storage for military vehicles and a collection of World War II–era Soviet tanks. »

A massive global study of the world’s reefs has found sharks are ‘functionally extinct’ on nearly one in five of the reefs surveyed.

James Cook University’s Professor Colin Simpfendorfer was one of the scientists who took part in the study, published today in Nature by the Global FinPrint organisation.

He said of the 371 reefs surveyed in 58 countries, sharks were rarely seen on close to 20 percent of those reefs. »

(CNN) The Boston Red Sox are showing their support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

The phrase "Black Lives Matter" -- written in the baseball team's font -- was on Wednesday placed on a massive, 254-foot billboard running alongside the Massachusetts Turnpike by Fenway Park.

Though the Red Sox have not spoken publicly about the billboard, manager Ron Roenicke said earlier this week that he supports any players who wish to take a knee, a gesture in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. »
