Because it’s not about preserving life, it’s only ever been about controlling women.
Edit: Yes, even if you believe a fetus is a person. A normal citizen doesn’t have the right to steal another citizen’s blood and organs, even if they would otherwise die. Even if the body that could save their life is now dead.
If a fetus had the same rights as its mother, it still wouldn’t be entitled to the use of her body.
If a woman had the same rights as a corpse, we wouldn’t even need to have this conversation.
