Surprised me to learn that parts of the Bahamas are actually father north than Miami. My mind always painted the Bahamas somewhere in the middle of the Caribbean
Fun fact: Kiribati is pronounced "kee ree bahs" and it's the native way to say the European name of the islands, Gilbert islands. The various atolls are spread out very far apart from each other, so there's no original native name for all of them together. Over half of the population lives on Tarawa atoll.
