Republicans are blocking an extension of the $600 Cares Act (extra unemployment) because they believe it encourages people to stay home rather than return to work. Even though 60% of companies right now have a hiring freeze in place.
It's wild that some people really got Stockholm syndrome towards the US government. The blind loyalty amongst outright admission that they don't care about you is why nothing changes.

nobody's hiring. i've had two interviews fall through, specifically told that it's due to covid.
