Idiot in car launched the median going 100+ mph and hit my relative’s house without ever touching the ground until he landed in the backyard. Relative is alright, driver didn’t make it.

Damn I thought when a car crashed into my garage it was bad... 100 mph! I can’t even imagine.

Some more info: This happened around 10am this morning and the wreckage and body have not been removed yet. My relative and their spouse are shaken up but doing okay, they’re currently packing bags to go stay elsewhere. Apparently the neighbors have had a problem with this guy for speeding (and people speeding on this street in general) for a long time. So problem solved, unfortunately.

Update edit: Cause of the crash is unconfirmed, but speed was definitely a factor. The driver’s parents believe he may have had a seizure because he ate little for breakfast and has had a seizure in the past due to low sodium. Police have suggested possible heart attack. No evidence of either yet, however. It’s all speculation at this point and everyone is going to have their opinion, but who knows if we’ll ever know for sure. Still sad for the man and his family.

Update 2: At the time of this posting, it seemed most likely that the driver was purposely driving recklessly based on the information available, and many comments (including my own) reflected as such. Despite new information and theories, I cannot change the title of this post (Reddit rules), so I have updated this comment to reflect the new possibilities and attitudes instead. It is not bad or wrong to change your perspective when presented with new information, and I’ve learned a valuable lesson in why this should be a healthy, normalized way to think and act. The driver was a human being, and he had people who loved him; we should all remember that, whether what he did was intentional or not.

Regardless, I’ll be leaving my previous comments up for transparency. I think we can all learn something from this thread about making assumptions about people we don’t know and their intentions, whether it be from a car accident or a comment thread on Reddit. Let’s focus on treating others with kindness and compassion. Be good to one another.

Great now the house is haunted.

Time for an old tiny person with a southern accent to come exorcise the house.
