No one wants to discuss the historical context let alone acknowledge it. There’s a lot of White people talking about heritage and history that are refusing to acknowledge what that heritage and history meant for black people in this country. They literally don’t care.

We need to throw that tea in the harbor again. Also in Florida you can request your voter status to be reactivated BUT it just sits in the governors office until he feels like reviewing it. It’s sick.

I believe we passed a vote against that a few years back but it had so much red tape around it and the access to reinstating that it was nonsense.

Clarification from another user - Hey-- I'm not black, so I can't really to your comment on BPT. Just wanted to let you know-- Florida passed a constitutional amendment restoring voting rights to former felons. DeSantis is fighting to put some bullshit conditions on it (he wants to force people to pay back the cost of incarcerating them), but do far the initial court case she the appeals court have told him to go pound dirt because his argument is just a poll tax, and is unconstitutional. If you've got a record, you can still register and vote in Florida in 2020

Just for further information (not meant to invalidate the tweet) but in some cases in some states felons can reapply to vote
