Overall, juries believe their word holds more weight in a court of law, despite being proven liars. Our opportunities for justice are thwarted every step of the way.
When you have zero accountability at all for an entire group of people in an occupation with far too much power in terms of the range things they “respond to” (from “traffic stops” to “wellness checks” to completely nonviolent offenses like jaywalking) and far too little training or entry requirements, this comes as zero surprise to me.
When they know they can literally get away with murder, why would they stop at lying? #defundthepolice
It is so frustrating and frankly absurd how much weight people feel a cop’s word holds. These are, more often than not, uneducated, unintelligent, immoral people with too little training and too many prejudices, who go crazy with the power and authority they’re given because they’ve never felt powerful at anything else. Their word should actually be more meaningless than the average lay person.
