I'm really glad that the day is recognized as a holiday.

My biggest concern is that it wasn't until this year 2020. Over 150 years after slavery was abolished in the last state, Texas. It took 155 years for this country to recognize something like the end of slavery as worth recognizing.

& All the while for the better part of my time in school we always celebrated shit like Columbus day.

Needless to say this holiday won't end racism & people every year will be edge lords and make fun of this holiday to hide their subtle or not so subtle racism.

But use the opportunity to educate yourself and educate others on similar injustices. The struggles of every minority group and their accomplishments in this country can and should be celebrated.

If we forget this dark past in US history things will not get better.

Good luck to you all on this day and i hope everyone stays safe.

Peace.✌️

I didn't learn until the Netflix documentary "13th" that slavery was never actually abolished. It's still completely legal as long as it is used as a "punishment for a crime."

The thing about educating myself about BLM and the history of black people, is it's just sadder and sadder the more I learn. Is there a really good chapter coming up please?
