I remember watching it on TV when they caught Roof and the sheriff of the county they caught him in gave a press conference. Apparently they bought him a cheeseburger meal and transported him to Charleston on a private plane. I kinda get the plane for safety reasons but I’d have given him a stale granola bar and the warmest bottle of water I could find.
In order to arrest this repeat offender, criminal record, armed and dangerous felon, in possession of drugs, they tore down a family's house to the point it got condemned.
Seacat repeatedly shot at the police, who not once returned the fire with live ammunition, but instead used gas and non-lethal force. When arrested, Seacat was only handcuffed and carried to the transport, despite showing clear will to shoot and kill a police officer.
Require cops to have malpractice insurance just like doctors. The bad ones will price themselves out. Department practices will change to maintain the budget and you'll get better cops.
