In Japan I was asked to be an extra on set once as the foreigner. I talked to other extras, they were getting paid to be there. I got 2 ugly fucking sweaters and a medium ugly canvas bag as a thank you.
Learned my lesson: ask what the pay is, say no to everything but money.

If there's no budget to pay people to be in the video I guarantee that there's also no chance you're going to "meet the right people"
