This is exactly the kind of religion that I want to see. One that's focused on the spiritual things and the minds of the people and accepts that the material world is explained by science.

I've never seen the catholic church claim blessing water will rid it of pathogens.
In fact the opposite, which is why they've always warned their congregation not to drink holy water or leave it laying around.
If anything this shows catholics understand science is science and spirituality is spirituality.
Which to be fair has been one of the upsides of catholicism for a long time.
