Clarifying who he meant would die would be a great follow-up question for a reporter to give him.

"Sir, when you say 'people may die', do you count yourself or perhaps your own family members?

Are you willingly ready to lose your own life or those of your family in the name of the economy"?

Yes unfortunately people die everyday, cancer, car crashes, shootings. But they don’t all get sick, require extensive treatment and die at in a compressed timeframe overwhelming hospitals while also infecting the staff and everyone around them.
