People want to frame the $600 a week extra unemployment benefits discussion around it being better to stay at home and not work rather than asking why we are being paid so little in the first place.
I seriously hope people like grocery store employees and school teachers go on strike around the whole country after this. They've absolutely proven how essential they are and they all deserve more.
EDIT: I didn't leave any jobs/positions out intentionally, just grabbed two that came to mind as being criminally underpaid and which are usually used as examples for low pay.
EDIT 2: I agree that strikes should be right now, but anecdotally most teachers I know care too much for their students to start striking amidst all this. And the unionized grocery stores in my area just got a temporary pay bumps, so I suspect they're not going to bother pushing any harder so soon.
